Metropolitan University (MU) is a prominent private university located in Sylhet, Bangladesh. Recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, this institution is highly acclaimed in the region for its commitment to quality education and modern academic environment. It holds the distinction of being the first private university in the Sylhet region to be awarded a ‘Permanent Sanad’ (Permanent Charter).

History and Founding

Metropolitan University officially began its journey on May 3, 2003, with the noble objective of expanding higher education and fostering a modern, knowledge-based society in Sylhet.

Starting with just two departments (BBA and CSE) and 17 students, the university has rapidly gained popularity by consistently ensuring quality education. Currently, it accommodates approximately 3,500 students and has successfully graduated over 3,000 alumni.

The university is situated on its permanent campus in the picturesque Bateshwar area of Sylhet.
